Justice is about equity and harmony. Revenge is simply making one feel good about oneself albeit in a petty fashion.
A death penalty imposed by any Court of Law is simply state-sponsored revenge. It does not correct or remedy. It simply adds to the waves of evil floating around us already.
I cannot, in any conscience, support the concept of capital punishment.

Reminds me of something I read somewhere recently.
"We had a vengeance lesson encounter, a couple of years ago
with a Lakota Indian, we came across in the South Dakota area.
After some sharing of Indian (them Indian) flute styles and hosting us for
some local Sioux city foods he happen to mentioned that he was on Parole.
We dared an intrusion and asked why he was on Parole. He said he
had murdered his distant cousin in a community feud (my paraphrasing of
some sentiments I recall).
And that followed by some hints of how the law has been unable
to understand the Indian community and how harsh it has been
to them that they have to deal with this foreign system (after killing
one of their own?).
I naturally, but after "casually" swallowing more of my meal, asked
how the Indian justice system would be for this case - so I can get
a feel for the monstrosity of the foreign laws.
He said: if the elders found me incorrect in my act of killing him, I probably
would be asked to become a substitute son for his parents and
care of his parents and family as he would have."
Couldnt agree with you more on this.. i am all against capital punishment....
